SOCA

The Southern Ontario Cricket Association is the body responsible for the governance of cricket in Southwest Ontario. SOCA is a member of the Ontario Cricket Association, and falls under the umbrella of the CCA and the ICC.

SOCA operates a competitive league which runs from May until September each year. Seven teams between Windsor

Sunrise Browne is SOCA 2009 Champion. In rain effected game Sunrise Browne defeated Cavaliers CC at Waterloo Park on 26 September 2009. Sunrise scored 205/8 in 38 overs and gave a target of 206 to win. Cavaliers failed to reach the target in 38 overs. Details to follow...

SOCA Wins OCA Elite Championship 2009

Truly team efforts prevailed and SOCA beat TDCL to win OCA Elite Championship 2009. TDCL won the toss and elected to bat on nice sunny day at Mississauga ground. SOCA had an excellent start and sent 4 top order batsmen to pavilion at just 69 runs on board. TDCL Caption Eion Katchay and Jabbar Chaudhary made an effort to stabilize the TDCL inning however, Top scorer Jabbar Chaudhary scored 38 and gave his wicket to Parveen Sharma while Eian Katchay got out at C&B to Bahadur Mangat at 29. TDCL lost their wickets at regular interval and were all out for 190 in 45.2 overs. (AJ Chaudhary 38, B Shemraj 32, E. Katchay 29, P Sharma 7-0-29-3, S Sheikh 6-0-27-2)

Inderjeet and Kuldeep Dhaliwal gave a positive start to SOCA inning. Inderjeet was given lbw just before the lunch at 12 while Kuldeep gave an easy catch to short mid-off at 7. Harpal and Karun Jethi provided much needed winning partnership and contributed 85 runs for 3^rd wicket. Again Harpal(40) was declared lbw at 108 on board for SOCA. Majed Khan joined Karun Jethi. Jethi completed his 50 and both scored 50 run partnership in just 55 balls. Just 9 runs away from the victory Jethi was brilliantly caught by Patel at extra cover boundary. Jethi scored 76 off 98 balls and contributed to 74 run partnership for 4^th wicket. Neeraj joined the party and took an honor to play winning shot. Karun Jethi was declared Man of the Match and won complete Cricket kit sponsored by Power play.

Earlier SOCA beat OVCC in nail baiting semi-final at Waterloo Park . Richi Anand(24) and Parveen Sharma(11) contributed winning 41 run partnership for the last wicket. SOCA were chasing 171 to win and was 130 for 9. (Inderjeet 40, Saqib 42, Richi 9-0-33-3, Harpal 10-2-23-3, Parveen 9-3-30-2)

SOCA played BCL/CPC in an opening game at waterloo park and won by 91 runs. (Richi 51*, Neeraj 33, Inderjeet 29, Kuldeep 27, Saqib 22, Richi 8-3-20-5, Kuldeep 5-0-13-3)

Richi Anand was declared Man of the Tournament with unbeaten 75 on board and highest wicket taker for the tournament (25-3-94-9).

SOCA Under 19 wins against OVCC under 19 game at Laurel Creek ground while SOCA Seniors lost to OVCC seniors by 1 run in a nail biting game at Waterloo Park. Thanks to all players who traveled from Windsor and Ottawa to play very good game and all volunteers who helped to cook food and make arrangements for the games.

September 18, 2006 Sunrise-Browne beats Kaiture CC to win 2006 SOCA League Championship...

20 year old Inderjit Dhaliwal gave him self and his team (Sunrise-Browne) great birthday present, Yes it’s SOCA 2006 league Championship. After losing 4 wickets with 20 runs on board, Sunrise- Browne bounced back to score 239 for 9 wickets in allotted 45 overs against Kaituer CC at Waterloo Park . Man of the Match Inderjit Dhaliwal scored 130 runs with 10 towering sixes and 3 boundaries. When came to bat, Browne lost 4 quick wickets for just 20 runs on board. He build 64 runs 5^th wicket partnership with Vinit Jain (27 runs) and 83 runs partnership with Kuldeep Dhaliwal (21 runs). He got out at score of 215 runs making most of them him self. ( N Permaul 3/42, J. Sukhu 2/46)

Kaiture CC came to bat under pressure with cloudy weather to score 240 runs in 45 over. However, continued to lose wicket at regular intervals and bundled-up for 109. (J. Sukhu 19 Not out, Z. Rozen 12, Saqib Sheikh 2/19, Parveen Sharma 2/18 Bahadur Mangat 2/20)

Rules for 20/20 games

1. Each team will receive 20 over. (Field restrictions apply for first 5 Overs)Team scoring higher runs will be declared a winner.
2. In case of same number of runs, team losing the lesser number of wickets will be declared winner.
3. Minimum 10 over are required to call a game in event of bad weather. Team with higher run rate based on number of runs scored divided by number of over played will be declared winner. If the team is all out before the allotted 20 over, the number of over for the calculation of runrate should full 20 over and not the number over played.
4. In case the result can not be achieved from 1, 2 and 3. Toss of coin will be made to declare a winner.
5. 1 Hours and 30 minutes (90 Minutes) are allocated to bowl 20 over including the 5 minutes water break at the end of 10 over.
6. 10 minutes break between the two innings
7. Each bowler can bowl no more than 4 over per game.
8. There will be no penalty for not completing the number of over with in allocated time, However Umpires are to make sure that there will not be waste of time by either teams (batting or Bowling)
9. On Sept 9th Saturday Morning games will start at 10.00 am while the afternoon game will start at 2.00 pm
10. On Sept 10th, Sunday the final will start at 1.00 pm allowing travelling team enough time to reach the ground.
11. 20/20 final will be hosted by the team with higher net run rate in Semi final Game.
12. Appropriate refreshment is to be provided by the team hosting the game at the end of both games.
13. Balls are to be provided by fielding team. Ground needs to be prepared and provided by the team hosting the game and Umpire fees are to be paid by both teams before start of the game. (Each umpire will get $25, One umpire to be paid by one team and the other umpire to be paid by the other team)
14. Refreshment and Umpire Fees will be paid by SOCA for the final game. Balls needs to be provided by fielding team.
15. Regular One-Day rules (League rules) apply for Wide balls, No balls etc.
16. In case of dispute decision of SOCA executive body will be final.

Key Decisions made during Spring AGM and Reminders for some of the new teams to SOCA

Umpiring fees have been increased from $40 to $50 for two umpires game and from $25 to $30 for one umpire. Fees should be paid before the toss is being made.

30 Yard circle rule is applicable to all games. 10 overs field restriction for 40 and 45 over games and 15 overs field restriction for 50 over games.
Associate member fees would be $150.
Scores, results and Umpiring complaints need to be submitted by the Wednesday after the game is over. Both teams should submit the scores in order to resolve incorrect scores.
Once the final schedule is published, teams are responsible to for any changes and both teams need to agree.
Umpires and players code of ethics to be followed strictly.
Any cancellation of games needs to be communicated to Umpiring Co-ordinator, Scheduled Umpires and SOCA Secretary as soon as possible.
All players need to be registered to SOCA before they play a game, I believe the deadline is Wednesday before the game (Including the 12th Man).
